Stability
A disc thrown backhand (most common) with a stability of 2.0 is considered OVERstable and if the thrower is right handed (left handed is opposite) the disc will fall to the left. A disc thrown under the same conditions that is -2.0 is considered UNDERstable and will fall to the right. The scale of stability ranges from 3 to -3.

Experienced players use over stable discs because they deliver greater distance. By throwing an overstable disc at an angle upon release opposite to the thrower's natural turnover he or she can compinsate for the discs overstability and create an "S" shaped flight pattern when the disc turns back over in air allowing the disc to stay air born longer creating superior distance. |
